Look at me being all sassy with a "munchkin" pumpkin for a photo prop today. Happy Halloween, by the way!
I haven't done a proper beauty favourites post for a long time - I've enjoyed (and will continue to do so) my Five Favourites style post where I mix everything, interiors, fashion and beauty - depending on what has been my most loved items that particular week...
However, it's autumn. A mild in temperature and confusing for clothing choices autumn, sure, but leaves are on the ground and the ferns on Dartmoor are turning a really pretty shade of burnt orange. So let's talk about some stuff I've been loving and are pretty autumn appropriate beauty wise.
You may have read my post on the Essie Fall Leggy Legend collection here, and so know I'm pretty obsessed with all of the shades on offer there and as predicted since purchased, they have all I've been wearing on my nails. Pictured above is With The Band (a light burgundy,) and the namesake itself Leggy Legend (alloyed bronze.)
I tend to pick up a small bottle of Caudalie's Beauty Elixir around this time of year when my skin has a "LOL I'M HAVING A BREAKDOWN" moment. Anyone else get that transitional problem? A little spritz of this midway through the day perks up and soothes my skin, regardless of whatever problem has come up that day. That spritz has also got to be the biggest relaxing placebo too, so definitely one to pick up if you're feeling a bit stressed.
Avene has been a firm stand by for me, the Hydrance Optimale range is always in my skincare drawer and now Cicalfate has joined it's ranks. A repair balm that sinks in quickly, hydrates but most importantly repairs and does the job it's supposed to. You can read my full review here, but if you suffer badly during the colder months with dry, chapped skin you need to pick this up.
On a recent order from Look Fantastic stocking up on skincare bits, since I had spent over £55 I received their monthly beauty bag that was packed with a mix of full size and sample size products (all of which were gorgeous by the way, it was a really fun bag!) but the stand out product for me and one I'll be purchasing full size is the Percy & Reed Volumising No Oil Oil. I work this through towel dried and still slightly damp hair and leave over night to wake to really smooth, but full of volume hair. It's just a lovely little product, one of those no fuss ones. The fact it works without heat for me is a game changer as I very rarely blow dry or use any heat on my hair at all, so any products I buy repeatedly need to work sans heat.
The fact my hair is pretty much styled come morning? Amazing.
For make up I've been keeping everything really simple. A light, dewy base (in the form of No7 Super Light Foundation and the YSL Touche Eclat highlighting concealer,) with just a light touch of bronzer, lashings of black mascara, some brow gel and a patting of cranberry satin lip pencil, NARS Mandore. I work everything in with a sponge, a duo fiber brush for the bronzer and good ol' fingers to make sure it's just there. Only just noticeable that actually, yeah. She looks put together.
What's on your autumn beauty radar?
