There are few things in life I find as therapeutic as cleaning my make up brushes; that is a statement that will earn raised eyebrows. I realise that is a hugely sad thing to admit, but whatever - whack some music on, armed with Dr Bronners Liquid Soap and I'm golden for half hour.
Recently I've been needing something just to do a quick spot clean, something that will cleanse my brushes, dry quickly and essentially not mess up the bristles. On a recent trip to Superdrug I spotted the B. Makeup Brush Cleanser, picked it up on a whim and so far, I'm converted to "spot" cleaning.
To use, just like any other spot cleanser, you just spray onto some tissue (or a cotton pad, your call) and swirl your brush until clean and then leave to dry. I've used this for around a month now mostly for eye brushes just because that's what I tend to use the most but I have used it on face brushes, lip brushes (all the brushes!) and it works perfectly on all of them, although obviously longer bristles (like the Real Techniques Duo Fibre brush pictured above,) need a little more tissue to work on.
Simply, it does what it says on the bottle - it cleanses and conditions, brushes feel clean and soft as they would with a deep clean. There is no "tacky" feeling left on the bristles (what I was most concerned about,) but I needn't have worried. The drying is obviously a lot quicker too, so if you are in a rush this is a really great option if you know you'll be changing your look for the next day.
So whilst I still enjoy the usual routine of cleaning my brushes, if I'm in a pickle and need a quick fix? This is what I'll be reaching for. Oh, and it's under £5. Score.
