I love a bold, often matte, statement lip. Adore them. NARS, red square is an absolute babe as are the Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet lipsticks. And MAC! Russian Red, hollah.
But sometimes, ain't nobody got time for that.
In fact a majority of the time I prefer a no fuss, it doesn't matter if it wears off balm type deal. The ones that provide colour, feel moisturising but don't require all the upkeep.
My favourite, one that I've picked up three times now because it's become such a staple is the Dior Lip Glow Color Awakening Lipbalm. Mouthful. This is supposed to enhance your lips natural colour, reacting to the 'unique chemistry' of your lips so you experience a 'your lips but better' kind of deal. And it does, amazingly well. It's just the prettiest pink, really unobtrusive so I particularly like wearing this if I've gone all out on my eye make up, but also really just like wearing it for every day outings too.
A recent acquisition of mine is the Clarins Instant Light Lip Balm Perfector. I've never picked up the original Instant Light Perfectors and I kind of feel I should after using this. The shade 'Orange' is very subtle and again very moisturising (a balm, moisturising, steady on!) and is just a great spring/summer shade.
One that isn't a typical spring/summer shade, but one that I wore a lot of during winter is the Yves Saint Laurent Volupte Sheer Candy in shade '5.' Even though this is a lipstick, it definitely feels more balm like, but you can still get an intense berry shade with this. Alternatively, applied lightly and you get a pretty sweet 'bitten lips' effect, which isn't too shabby to rock year round.
What's your favourite 'light wash' lip product?
